Louise took exceptional care of us and provided us with a memorable dining experience for our annual family holiday. The food was divine and service was exceptional.
We don’t go out that often so I was pretty excited to finally try sandbar this evening. I honestly didn’t realise it’s now a French restaurant so that was a new and interesting thing for me. In hindsight, I should’ve ordered something more French, I suppose. We got prawn toast (Chinese) and halloumi fries (Greek?) to start. The prawn toast was the best I’ve ever had. The halloumi fries were undercooked and cut too thick so it was a bit like raw, chewy, oily cheese dipped in ketchup or mayo. Mains were Yamba prawns and scallops. I think the prawns were way over done but they were huge so pretty hard to cook just right. The scallops were excellent and the hazelnuts and cauliflower in the risotto was also really nice. The cocktails were also awesome. Only complaint about the service was that we were getting sunburned and it seemed to be a huge ordeal for them to find us a shadier table despite there being only a few people there. Eventually they sat us right next to the only other couple that was eating at that time and we still had the sun in our faces. Seems like the sort of problem a beach side restaurant should be able to solve more easily. Anyway, we both generally thought it was great. We probably won’t ever go back but that’s only because we never go anywhere:)
Booked a table for NYE for my family and it was amazing, delicious food !
It’s my second time at Sandbar and I haven’t been disappointed.
The French staff are very friendly !
I will always come back next time I visit Yamba !
Delicious! All meals were presented nicely and the staff were friendly. We will be back.
Best breakfast in Yamba !
I’ll be back at Sandbar for sure! Thanks Louise for the great service and all Sandbar team !
Been here many times over the years and recently relocated to Yamba part time. Great food and location, in particular the steak frites and crispy skin barramundi always delicious. Tried the prawn toast and it was a surprise hit, total yum.
Now for the negative, service was great, until the end, we contemplated a glass of wine prior to leaving as it was storming and raining heavily. Unfortunately the waitress was rude and a bit aggressive stating we are closing in 5 minutes and we don't do wine by the glass.
So we settled the bill, skipped the tip and left. Honestly don't care about the fact that we couldn't have another glass of wine each, there was no need to be rude when delivering negative news. As a customer we understood that the restaurant was closing even though there were a number of patrons still on site.
It is not a big thing but it was a less than satisfactory end to another wise enjoyable evening. Took me an hour to get my partner to tell me why she was upset.
We will be back another time,
When it's welcoming and delicious, we go back! From breakfast to dinner for the quality of the dishes and the smiles of my compatriots! Proseco for everyone! It's my birthday 🤩🤩🤩
First time visitor to Sandbar, just ordered 3 takeaway coffee’s. Fabulous service from Amanda. Very friendly, happy & smiling 😊 Thank you Amanda! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ …
